A hike up Tumbledown Mt right here in Wolfeboro was a lovely way to spend a beautiful fall afternoon!
We recently were able to tour the @nhboatmuseum before they closed for the season. We loved all of the hands-on exhibits and seeing all different kinds of amazing boats. We particularly liked learning about the boat that was powered by horses on a treadmill-like contraption!
Thanks to a grant from the Governor Wentworth Arts Council, the Kingswood Youth Center was able to create these murals, representing New Hampshire in the four different seasons. Along with Wolfeboro Public Library, Makers Mill, and KYC volunteers and staff, KYC teens designed, built, painted, and hung these pieces, learning along the way. These murals are hanging in the porch at the Wolfeboro Public Library. Head over there to check them out, they are beautiful!

Dave Poland from Northern Human Services joins us regularly to talk about mental health. This last visit we discussed self-regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. One cool thing we did at the end was test if we could bring our own heart rates down through mindfulness. Every single one of us who tried was able to do it! It was an eye-opening experiment and very empowering for us to learn that we ARE able to self-regulate in times of stress.

We had the BEST time at our 14th annual Chili Challenge! This year’s event brought out more people than ever before and teams definitely brought the HEAT! Enjoy our first post of photos… more to come with a list of the winners! A huge thank you to KYC teen Ryan K. for helping with photography at the event!
Lorraine from @peersnotfears came to lead the KYC in activities and conversation that center around leadership. “Leadership is a skill that can be developed,” Lorraine tells us, and she does just that; help KYC teens develop skills to become more effective leaders.
We had a great first week of 2023-2024 school year programs! As you all know, it was a hot week so we escaped to Albee Beach and cooled off! We also enjoyed having Eric with us for our substance misuse prevention program: he was as captivating as ever. We spent a lot of time just relaxing and enjoying being back in each other’s company! We hope everyone had a great first week back at school!
A huge thanks to @bricks_at_the_lake for hosting a Lego Party for the KYC! They created a mini mock KYC out of legos, and created instructions for us all to build our own! Plus we did free builds and just generally enjoyed their space. It was so generous and creative of them! Thanks again Matt and Karen!
The Kingswood Youth Center is pleased to thank our generous sponsors, donors, and all those who helped make the KYC’s 14th Annual Chili Challenge fundraiser a success!
