Last week we worked on finishing up our Global Art Project for Peace to send to Morocco soon. Shelly brought dirt themed activities for us- we started some seedlings, repotted and separated a plant, made ooblek, and overall had a great afternoon!
We also just recently discovered that we have a lot of KYC teens are good at, and enjoy, chess! So we held a chess tournament, which was a tough competition!
We made gourmet pancakes for snack last week! You should have seen the creations these teens dreamt up. It’s always fun when we can offer Cheffing It Up!
We had the pleasure of touring @islandglowbeauty this afternoon for one of our Career Exploration field trips! Sandra Bullis showed us around, talked about the importance of trade schools, and welcomed questions with a huge smile on her face! She treated KYC’ers to snacks and drinks, and even goodie bags! She answered skin care questions and had more than one student ask “How old do I have to be to work here?!” What an absolutely fantastic tour. Thank you Sandra!
Last week, we had Janet Williamson speak in our Perspectives on Prevention series. Janet works extremely hard at three different jobs in the Emergency Medical Services field. She shared her insight and wisdom on substance misuse. KYC’ers were very interested in Janet’s perspective and asked many thoughtful questions. Thank you, Janet!
For our evening program yesterday we took a group of KYC’ers to the @wolfeboro.public.library to watch the movie Matilda! We had dinner, snacks, and enjoyed relaxing together in the library’s great gathering space!
Over February vacation we spent a day at Camp Sentinel! Hiking to The Ledges was beautiful and snowy, with a great view! We played shuffleboard, some get-to-know-you games, had an indoor and outdoor fire, dinner, s’mores, and SO MUCH FUN! A huge thank you to Brandon and everyone at Camp Sentinel for your hospitality!
We had the best time tubing at King Pine right before February break! What a blast!
We are beyond proud of these two KYC members! They both participated in the Rotary Club’s district wide speech contest where they were challenged to present a five minute speech, answering the question “How can your school partner with Rotary to change lives?” First place was awarded to Skylar and second place to Elizabeth! Congrats you two!
Last week the speaker for our Perspectives on Prevention series was Officer Devine. Officer Devine is the school resource officer for the GWRSD schools in Wolfeboro. She was incredibly Informative, fun, and engaging. We appreciate you taking the time to talk to the KYC about YOUR perspective on substance misuse prevention, Officer Devine!
Mock job interviews! Our teens blew us away with how well they did during our life skills program yesterday! They were given a lot of flexibility in their skits and they SHINED! Keep on the lookout, local businesses, there are a lot of KYC’ers who you’ll want to hire soon!

We noticed that Mara and one of our KYC teens accidentally matched yesterday!
We had to snap a pic! And we finished up a very cool project during Science with Shelly! We repurposed bath towels and made a bath mat! And of course we had a great time celebrating Valentine’s Day! We had a sharing session about what makes a good friend, and also shared appreciation for someone in our life. ![]()
