Today we visited Squam Lake Science Center and then went for a swim! What a great day in KYC Summer Programs! Our next program is Museum, Movie, and Mammals on August 2. See you there!
Summer programs are off to a great start! Last week we climbed Sentinel Mountain, visited White Horse Addiction Center, and went swimming at Camp Sentinel! Today we hiked Green Mountain and then drove Go Karts!
Yesterday we continued our Summer Programs with fundraising and Ice Cream! A fun mix of work and play!
Our group took to downtown Wolfeboro, approaching our town’s generous businesses to inquire about sponsorship for our Chili Challenge. Thank you so much to the local businesses who are considering sponsorship opportunities!
We paid a visit to our Board of Directors to say ‘hi’ and report our progress.
When the work was done, we celebrated with ice cream from Bailey’s Bubble.
Thanks to all who participated!
Thank you to the Wright Museum for generously hosting our first program of the summer! We toured the entire museum and learned about life during WWII. An informative video and time with their expert staff provided answers to our questions about this influential era! Check out the link to the Wright Museum’s website to learn more!
We are offering 12 programs this summer. Check them out with the link below!

Today is the last day of the KYC Afterschool Program for the 2016-2017 school year. Next week we launch into an exciting series of 12 full-day and half-day summer programs! Check out the BTAS! tab under ‘upcoming events’ for the full schedule.
This school year, the Kingswood Youth Center reached over 275 high school and middle school students. We offered our long-standing afterschool program, in addition to 100 hours of additional programs (BTAS!), including many full-day programs and an overnight. What a fun year! Please sit back and browse the ‘Best of 2016-2017 School Year!’
We acknowledged Red Ribbon Week by making a giant Ribbon, decorated with our substance free passions.
A Teen Council provided peer-leadership and led activities for us. At Halloween the Teen Council put on a ‘haunted trail.’
We gave thanks and had a turkey dinner for Thanksgiving.
We gave back through volunteering at the Lakes Region Humane Society…
…and the Food Pantry Garden in Wolfeboro…
…and through decorating bird feeders for local retirement communities.
We decorated a tree for the Festival of Trees!
Joanne Helped with woodworking and more.
Jeremy was always up for games, whether tossing a football, cards, or table tennis.
Ellen loved to get out and explore with us!
Eric was up for just about any wholesome fun!
Megan (and Gage!) was always available to chat and hang out!
Yes there really was a pig in the KYC! Wildlife Encounters offered a live animal demonstration.
We hiked a lot!
We built our own corn-hole game…
…which brought lots of fun with friends.
We made a GaGa Pit too…
…and enjoyed even more outdoor fun!
Sometimes we dropped everything for a spontaneous afternoon at the beach…
…or the park.
We made music…
…and created works of art.
Sometimes we were serious… (Guest speaker Trooper Michno, giving his perspective on prevention.)
…other times not so much.
BTAS! (beyond the after-school) offered us many new opportunities…
…including the KYC’s first ever overnight!
We offered YouthMax with Caroline…
…and Cooking Matters For Teens with Joy.
Did we miss anything?..Of course we did; we did so much more…
Thanks everyone for a great year. See you in our summer programs and then in September for another year of the Afterschool Program.
Last week our BTAS! program consisted of a camp fire! We worked together to gather wood and safely kindle a fire. Then we enjoyed a cookout. We could not have asked for better spring weather!
Many hands make light work! After a quick walk on the KYC nature trail, we had plenty of dry wood for our camp fire.
This pile kept the fire going throughout the event.
Tending the fire.
Zachary setting up the grill. We had BBQ turkey and an assortment of sides!
Thanks to everyone who participated. This week KYCers are invited to stay until 7:00 on both Wednesday and Thursday!
Last Thursday we hosted our own talent show!
An original rap!
Vocals!
Water marksmanship!
Thanks for participating KYCers!

The Works Pizza

Working fast to be ready for judging.
Pizza Prep
Almost Done!
Oven Fresh Pizza vs. Crispy Breaded Chicken; two classic comfort foods prepared using fresh and nutritious ingredients. The competition was tough.
Peers sampled the final products. After careful consideration, the judges voted on taste, appearance, and nutritional value.
The Pizza took the prize for nutrition and appearance; but the chicken won in the taste category. “No matter how you slice it,” you can’t go wrong with either of these great recipes from Cooking Matters. Check out the links at the beginning of this post to try making either 0f these recipes at home.
All of the KYC members who participated in Cooking Matters for Teens did a great job! Thank you to our facilitator, Joy, our volunteer Ellen, UNH Cooperative Extension, and the NH Food Bank for this great program!
The 2015, 5th Annual Chili Challenge! We are busy getting ready for the 7th Annual Chili Challenge, which is scheduled for the end of September. Lots of chances to support the KYC!
