Family Field Night!

Family Field Night! What a blast! Our teens set up stations for face-painting, treats, games and a coloring contest! It was great to see everyone working together and getting excited to do something fun for the community! It was a really hot day, so we ended with an evening swimming at Albee Beach to relax and cool off! We hope everyone is staying cool and enjoying time in the water if they can!

 

A Classic Summer Program!

Last week we went to the Libby Museum to see the Wildlife Encounters live animal show! After that, with a group of 17 teens, we spent the evening in Alton! We played mini-golf (and had to fish many-a-golf ball out of the water features ?), swam in Alton Bay, and went out for ice cream! It was the perfect summer day!

2021-2022 Volunteer of the Year, Eric Moran of White Horse Recovery!

We had a wonderful end-of-the-school-year celebration. We honored the board members, volunteers, and teens who have helped us enjoy another successful school year of programs! A HUGE congratulations and thank you to our Volunteer of the Year, Eric Moran with White Horse Recovery. Eric has brought with him joy, honesty, and support to the staff and teens at the KYC. His connection with teens has truly made a difference in lives, and we see it regularly. Eric uses connection, education, vulnerability, and honesty to teach substance misuse prevention and it works! Thank you for everything, Eric!

 

Floral Bouquets with Full Moon Farm

Wow! We received a donation of gorgeous cut flowers from @fullmoonfarmnh to create floral arrangements! We worked together to learn how to create an appealing bouquet and then everyone brought theirs home! A huge thank you to Jen and Kevin French for this educational and beautiful activity!

A New Gaga Pit for the Kingswood Youth Center!

WE HAVE A NEW GAG PIT! Since we were introduced to gaga ball about five years ago, it’s been a staple in our programs here at the KYC! We started with a pit we built here at the KYC in our woodworking program. However, we upgraded this last week to a bigger and more stable Gaga Ball pit! We love this game and are excited to use this new addition to our outdoor space!

 

Gardening with Life Ministries Food Pantry Garden

The KYC adopted a garden bed at the Wolfeboro Community Garden, where fresh produce is grown for the Life Ministries Food Pantry. We are so excited for this first-time experience and got to work on it this week! Shelly treated us to snacks; veggies to represent the fresh food we will be harvesting soon!

Career Exploration: Piscataqua Landscaping!

The biggest, most heartfelt thanks to Piscataqua Landscaping and Tree Service for such a great career exploration field trip! Rob, Kelly, and Paula treated the group to refreshments, a wonderful tour, questions and answers, inspiration, and a hands-on activity! We learned how to create a beautiful container display and got to take them home to enjoy all summer. We can’t thank you enough for your warmth and hospitality!

Team Talent Night

We held a Team Talent Night last week! Teams were given a list of “talents” to present and about 30 minutes to prepare. Then, we held the Talent Show! It was funny, heartfelt, and so creative! What a great evening with great teens!

“How Your Brain Works” Series

Last week KYC volunteer Donna began a series of mini-lessons with our students. “How Your Brain Works; Techniques for Managing Stress,” will give our teens guidance and specific ways to handle everyday stressors. We can’t wait to learn more! Thank you, Donna!
