We are thrilled to be embarking on a collaborative, community art project! With a grant from @governorwentworthartscouncil we are working on a multi-panel piece of artwork, focusing on nature and sustainability. Jeanne Snowden, who is the youth and children’s librarian @wolfeboro.public.library, an artist, and former art teacher, is guiding our teens to create a cohesive piece of work. Our teens have led the way, however, from initial conversations about the theme of the work, the sketches, and the next step, painting. Other teens took a trip to @makersmillnh to build the panels, which are lightweight enough to be moved around our community, in order to share our art! We can’t wait to share the finished artwork with you here on social media, and out and about in the community!
Our teens have been up to some really cool things lately! One teen built a wooden book, and learned a lot about woodworking in the process. A big group learned about energy efficiency. Others have been puzzling and decorating furniture!
Just like last year, over April vacation we got together with the Pittsfield Youth Workshop to play disc golf! It was a perfect day! We ended the day having pizza and chilling with PYW at their youth center! So fun! @pittsfieldyouthworkshop
The KYC celebrated Earth Day by joining the Abenaki Tower and Trail Association to work on beautifying the magnificent Abenaki Tower in Tuftonboro! We hammered, painted, scrubbed, cleaned and more! We had a great day giving back. @abenakitower
Lorraine from @peersnotfears led us through a few hands on activities where we learned about the power of our words, empathy, and kindness. We won’t give anything away in case you get the opportunity to work with Lorraine, but it was eye opening!
A huge thanks to Alyson with @nhscouting for bringing such a cool program to the KYC yesterday! Alyson let us through a fire building activity, where we learned about tinder, kindling and fuel in the form of pretzels and chocolate (the best way to learn!). We then moved outside to build a real fire. We had such a great time and learned so much!
Team building is a mainstay here at the KYC. We love challenging our teens and seeing them work through challenges together!

St. Paddy’s day was a blast this year! Diane came in with ALL THE GAMES! And we were visited by a leprechaun that looked suspiciously like… Diane?
Anyways, it was wild and goofy and fun and treat-filled! We are so
lucky
to have our amazing volunteers who make days like these so special!
The KYC took a small group to Conway to support Skylar, a KYC teen, who competed in round two of the Rotary Club’s High School Speech Contest. Round one was held at KRHS, where Skylar was named the winner! She was named winner at round two, as well, and will be competing in round three in Lyndonville, VT in April! In honor of Skylar, the KYC made a special dinner for the group; her alternative to a BLT sandwich, the BLP (bacon, lettuce, and pickles!). We are so proud of all Skylar has accomplished and can’t wait to see how she does in round three!
KYC was lucky enough to have another visit from Lorrain with @peersnotfears last week! Lorraine led an activity called Comfort Circles, where we thought about what activities and situations, we would be comfortable with and which ones would be pushing us out of our Comfort Zone, into the Challenge Zone and Panic Zone. She followed up with some great, thought-provoking questions. As always, Lorraine’s facilitation of the activity was remarkable, and we are so lucky to be connected with her!
