An Amazing Summer at a Glance

i Sep 11th by

Well, school’s back in session and the last few days have felt like autumn.  Here’s a look at the KYC’s series of weekly full-day summer programs, offered during summer 2018.  The afterschool program starts Monday!

We got the summer started with a hike to Devil’s Den Mountain in New Durham.  We explored the namesake cave, “The Devil’s Den!”

A slightly more challenging and equally beautiful hike to Mt. Roberts.  After our hike we took a swim!

Cycle Day!  We rode our brand new bikes into town on the Bridge Falls Path.  Following our ride we had a cookout, hung out at the KYC, and went to the beach!

On this fun-filled day, we went to the beach, practiced our cooking skills at the KYC, and worked on getting sponsorships for our Chili Challenge Fundraiser.

A swim with Chucky!  Chuck Rosa of Seabrook, NH swims in the ocean everyday of the year!  His famous “dips” are in the name of substance misuse prevention.  On August 1, the KYC got to take a dip with Chucky!

We got a tour of Lakes Region Community College in Laconia, NH.  We learned about the many programs offered, transferring to 4-year schools, dorm living, and more!  Following the Grand Tour, we hit Weirs Beach for a swim and ice cream!

Museum, Mammals, and Mountains-M, M, & M!  We took a hike to Red Hill in Moultonboro, viewed animal exhibits at the Libby Museum, and swam in 19-Mile Bay!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!  We  made good use of a rainy day: cooking at the KYC, games, preperation for our Chili Challenge Fundraiser, and bowling at Fun Spot!

4000 Footer Quest!  We climbed on of NH’s 48 4000 footers: Mt. Moosilauke!  Nice work KYC!

We took an Aviation Archaeological Expedition!     We visited the 1972 plane crash site on Belknap Mountain, enjoyed an amazing view from the top, got ice cream, and took a swim in Alton Bay.

Thanks to everyone who supported this fun and valuable series of summer programs.  The KYC is proud to have provided local youth with recreation, education, and time with friends throughout their summer vacations.  On Monday, ‘we hit the ground running’ with After-school and BTAS! programs!  See you there.
